Born in 1983 in Tehran and working with several instruments early on, Bijan Moosavi is probably the modest son of Iranian Alternative underground. He graduated in Graphics and played around before releasing his eponymous debut called “In My Headphones” in 2007.
What you may hear is a thoughtful touch on the genre’s serene moments. On the LP, he meticulously wordplayed with puns, verses and chorus lines knowing how prone Persian language can be when opposed to rock. If you choose the wrong word for the wrong tone, say hello to chaos. Luckily, Bijan survived the language barrier. Eventually, and with a little help from his shy whispery lungs bundled with his delicate minimal arrangements, “In My Headphones” earned a considerable dose of melody and proper songwriting. Depicting personal worries, wanderlust and comic children anecdotes, the album shaped up as a cohesive selection of works both in tempo and tone.
He started widening his audience by touring abroad (Berlin and Belgrade) giving stand-alone acoustic performances as well as promoting his music in Tehran facing the usual hardships. He also tried his hand on videos and remained connected to his studies whilst familiarizing himself with electronic music experimentations.
