Pharos is An Iranian progressive rock band founded by guitarist and composer Farbod Faridfar in 2001 in Tehran.
After few months the band has been performed their debut album which was included four instrumental songs at "Tehran Harkat hall" ,the album including songs wich evolved skillfully through several shifts of mood to a mystic guitar melody and also impressive were keyboard work with the band's instrumental evocations of space travel, this album established their images as a psychedelic/space-rock band.
Few months later Pharos performed again at "Tehran Art University".in 2002 the second album of pharos was created "The story of "Kamooskoshani" according to "Shahname" (the epic of kings) wich is the crown jewel of the persian literature,It's an enormous poetic opus composed by one of the great persian poets "Ferdowsi" of the 10th century.This is a comibination between persian classic literature and progressive rock music which makes a new impression in this memento,song "Karzar" is the most continuous song of this anthology with a powerful melodic guitar and oriental theme of flute,The psychedelic avant-garde atmosphere with a touch of jazz which includes a classical taste of flute sound that was performed by Sahar Moghadam.After many failed efforts to get the permission to release the album in the country Farbod and Sahar moved to the India and has been continued Pharos music projects."Sleep" was written in India in 2005,
Approche of the album is using the illusions and dreams through the asleep state of mind with the words wich evolved through the automatism writing.Unexpected structural music and sophistical mood created psychedelical journey.since 2004 Farbod and Sahar at the same time with Pharos project were working on the jazz-rock/fusion project in India and they played with lots of international musician frequently over there.
MUKTI,NAFIR & ESSENCE OF SUFFISM are the fusion projects of them wich are experimental music including tabla,indian slide guitar,kamanche,tambur & daf fusing with the jazz & blues.They received a huge appreciation and feedback from india medias and jazz community as well.
